WhatsApp has introduced a new feature called custom lists, which is aimed at helping users organize their chats more effectively. This feature builds upon the chat filters released earlier, which allowed users to locate messages quickly. Now, with custom lists, users can categorize their chats according to their preferences. One can create lists for anything, such as family, work, friends, or local groups, making it easier to separate and access specific conversations. Setting up a custom list is straightforward: tap the “+” icon in the filter bar at the top of the Chats tab.

To edit an existing list, long-press on it to access the customization options. Each list can include both group chats and individual conversations so users can streamline their experience according to their unique needs. All custom lists will be displayed in the filter bar, allowing quick access to categorized chats. Although the feature is currently rolling out, it may take a few weeks before all WhatsApp users can access it. This new organizational tool is expected to improve user experience by making chat management simpler and more personalized.
