USA working on Jet Engine deal with India ahead of PM Modi’s visit: Ro Khanna
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasized his ‘Atmanirbhar India’ vision on several occasions with a specific focus on the defence sector. India has put out a major bid to acquire jet engines for the indigenously built Tejas fighter aircraft, and top American and European agencies are in a race to acquire its deal. United States representative Ro Khanna has revealed to ANI that the US government is proactively working on the Jet Engine deal as PM Modi prepares for his visit to the country.
As arrangements are made to welcome the Indian Prime Minister, Khanna has said that the defence deliverables on the jet engines are “critical” for them. He has also added that growth in defence partnership between India and US will be key in developing their economic ties. Furthermore, Ro Khanna also pointed out that he has personally encouraged companies like Apple to move out of China and focus on India as their manufacturing partner. Even as American and European companies like GE and Rolls Royce prepare to pitch their deals to the Government of India, only time will tell which country will win this bid.
