Taylor Fritz Beats Andy Murray, Reaches US Open Quarterfinals
After Carlos Alcaraz, Taylor Fritz has also surprised the world of tennis by recording a resounding win against another seasoned tennis star – Andy Murray. The two athletes were originally supposed to compete on Thursday, but rain disrupted the day’s play. Instead, both players were told to play two different matches on Friday. Fritz opened up about the difficulty in playing two matches back-to-back, saying, “I can’t say I’ve experienced this — playing three hours with the heaviest balls in the world in humid conditions and having to turn around and play again,” as per AP.
Andy Murray also shared his thoughts on this unusually power-packed day, saying, “It’s pretty rare that it happens. There is not necessarily, like, a strategy for that. Because it’s so rare, you just try and focus on the first match. And then if you get through it, try and rest and recover as much as you can before going out there. But it’s far from ideal.” Taylor Fritz has gained a strong advantage in this US Open by beating a giant like Murray. A few weeks ago, Carlos Alcaraz also made headlines after beating the seasoned Novak Djokovic to become the Wimbledon champion.
