Jaishankar pointed out Nehru’s conspiring motions!

Jaishankar scrutinized Jawaharlal Nehru’s foreign policy stance, particularly regarding critical issues concerning India. Jaishankar alleged that Nehru favored China over India for the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) seat. He also claimed that Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel opposed taking the Kashmir issue to the United Nations (UN). Speaking at the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Jaishankar addressed queries about whether India should accept the status quo of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK) and territories occupied by China or strive to reclaim them.

Jaishankar referenced a warning from Sardar Patel to Nehru in 1950 regarding China. Patel cautioned Nehru about the emerging challenges on two fronts (Pakistan and China) and advised taking precautions due to apparent differences in Chinese intentions. Nehru dismissed Patel’s concerns, stating that no threat could emerge from the Himalayas. During the debate, Jaishankar emphasized Nehru’s stance on a permanent UNSC seat, where Nehru insisted that China should be prioritized over India.

Regarding the Kashmir issue, Jaishankar highlighted Patel’s reluctance to involve the UN, citing concerns about biased judgments. Despite this, the matter was taken to the UN, resulting in pressure to halt military actions to reclaim POK. Jaishankar attributed present-day challenges, such as territorial disputes, to past mistakes.

Jaishankar reiterated India’s sovereignty over boundaries and emphasized the government’s efforts to address inherited issues. Jaishankar underscored the significance of respecting parliamentary resolutions, particularly concerning Kashmir. He stressed the importance of evaluating current positions while acknowledging historical errors.
