Goa government to use Polish tech to control beach noise
The Goa government has decided to switch gears on monitoring beach noise, which still remains a growing problem in the state. While the state boasts millions of tourists every year, the beach noise has severely impacted the natural habitat of the coastal areas. Their government has decided to use Polish technology to monitor the noise level in the beach areas, according to the Times of India. Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) has entered into a five-year contract with Poland’s Velan Technologies in this initiative.
Goa Tourism Development Corporation will likely approach most hotels in the area and the panchayat heads to ask for space to install this Polish equipment and operate it thereon. Some of the areas where this tech will likely be installed include Baga, Calangute, Candolim, Vagator, Colva, and Morjim. GSPCB chairman Mahesh Patil said, “Now, there will be a screen displaying the noise levels online at the local police stations, with the deputy collectors, and with GSPCB officials. We will have concrete data based on which action can be initiated. The organisers will not be able to deny the violation.”
